And then...

He let go of me, grabbed the side of the crib and... scared himself, not knowing what to do next! So I picked him back up. So cute...

Learning to Stand w/ Help

Wow... pushed my hand away once he got upright & made for the crib edge. (Note the tongue sticking out in concentration. That's genetic from his paternal grandfather. Also, he holds on to me with his left hand and lets go of me with his right, using his right to reach out & explore. Wonder if that implies his left is dominant? If so, that would be genetic from his maternal grandfather. Cool.)

Harry Connick Jr. on Broadway

Terrific. I got there late due to a long Board meeting but enjoyed the heck out of the show. His crooner stuff doesn't do it for me but I did arrive just in time to see him bring his Dad out to do a number which was cool as, for whatever reason, I have always missed Harry Sr. in New Orleans. and then he opened the second act with "Junco Partner" alone on a stand-up piano and cranked a New Orleans-heavy hour+ of music. delightful.

he ended with Professor Longhair's "Mardi Gras in New Orleans" and then "Bourbon Street Parade" (written by his hilarious friend / trombone player Lucien's uncle Paul Barbarin) for an encore that just got EVERYONE jumping. so, as we were exiting the theater I asked the Wyfe, loudly enough for her parents both to hear, "Tell me why we don't live in New Orleans again?"

and her Dad answered, "'Cause we couldn't do this every night!"

I took that as some sort of minor victory. obviously, and likely only for that moment, he considered it... and then I countered with "But wouldn't it be fun to try...."

keeping the dream alive...

A small hawk...

What appeared to be a small hawk just landed on the security camera on our roof. Here is the camera & if I had been faster on the draw with my cell phone camera perhaps you could have seen the hawk.

6 Month Check-Up

28.25 inches long & 18 lbs. 10.5 oz w/ a 47cm noggin!

also... tough as nails. didn't even whimper when he got his first vaccination shot! and then, when the nurse gave him his second he slightly whimpered... for 4 seconds. wow... soon he'll be making us take him for "Baby's First Tattoo"....

Breakfast Time

"What Do Tigers Dream Of?"

"When they take a little tiger snooze.

Do they dream of mauling zebras,
Or Halle Berry in her Catwoman suit?"

"A Sparkle"

As us boys were walking to pick up Momma Bear from work, a woman we know from our building stopped to chat. She is delightful, used to run a day-care center (so knows a lot about children) and complimented me once again on Leighton, saying how healthy he looked and saying he was "an exceptional child." She went on to praise how much further he is both physically and cognitively / developmentally for his age adding, "he has... a sparkle."

"A sparkle." I like that...
