... even from my trusty steed. The first trick is to make the shot (which I did). The second is to teach Petunia not to buck so much at the gun's report. We'll work on her.

Chipmunk Safari

As a result of a massive chipmunk problem, my beloved father-in-law is slowly descending in to madness. He's becoming Carl the Groundskeeper - Bill Murray's character from "Caddyshack."

So he dusted off some 30+ year old pellet guns and we went to town. I had 5 confirmed kills, 2 suspected / wounded, and a few pelts as shown here.

(A word about gun safety... Despite appearances, Leighton's hand is nowhere near the actual barrel. Also, the gun is unloaded. And the safety is on. Always keep the safety on - release it to fire, and then immediately put the gun back on safe. We take gun safety very seriously in our household, what with "Two-Gun Charity out of Missoula" as matriarch and "Leighton, The Laredo Kid" as Number One Son.)

Post-Ramble Fire With Bailey

After seeing Mavis Staples at Levon Helm's "Midnight Ramble" we repaired to Bailey & Mercedes house where Bailey made a giant fire, using their old dried-out Christmas tree he had saved just for this occasion. The flames were a solid 50 feet high at their peak. Then we set up a shooting range for his pellet gun.
