A Terrific Weekend!
Well... that was fun!
Drove up to CT Saturday morning with The Wyfe and Marvelous Matt. Stopped at Mom's before heading up to Loomis Chaffee for the Homecoming football game against Deerfield.
Drove up to CT Saturday morning with The Wyfe and Marvelous Matt. Stopped at Mom's before heading up to Loomis Chaffee for the Homecoming football game against Deerfield.
Despite an Overtime loss, had a good time showing everyone around the campus as this was my first time back in nearly 20 years. Had some NJ Royalty with us as well, as JD & his Mom came up for the game (JD's nephew plays for Deerfield.)
There were also a bunch of old teammates there, which was great & very amusing.
Then we went to see Joan Rivers perform in Hartford and visited her backstage before the performance. (My favorite line of hers that night was backstage when she looked at Mom's fur and said, "You didn't get that working as a nurse!")
A terrific dinner at Peppercorns
and then back to watch the end of the marathon 5 hour 10 minute Yankee victory.
On Sunday Matt & I met Rusty for $8 pitchers at the "Time Out" Sports Bar in the Manchester Parkade and watched the Saints dominate the Giants. Then The Wyfe drove us home, with a quick McDonald's stop as we listened to the Patriots DESTROY the Titans on the radio.
A great time, packing a lot of fun in with old friends...

Lenny & Joe's
On our way back from Newport, RI, on Tom's recommendation, we stopped at Lenny & Joe's Fish Tale in Madison, CT for their buttered Lobster Roll. WOW was that good! The chowder was a miss, but the Lobster Roll was drenched in butter & delicious!

Bruce
Wow... I've never been the biggest Springsteen fan, but it was incredible the sheer amount of emotion he poured in to every single note. As was the abundant raw human emotion the fans displayed. A very impressive performance. He also sang from down amongst the crowd & let them body-surf him back to the stage.

Erik Weihenmayer's Lecture
wow... VERY inspirational. Erik is the only blind person to have climbed the Seven Summits - the highest peak on each continent, including Everest. His bio is HERE.

Simple Man
To our troops - and their families...
And my unborne Chyld...
I don't mind telling you... I openly wept during this song.

Skynyrd Photos
What a great show...
A true fan:
Buddy of mine who I randomly bumped in to at the show, with his father (who knows Van Zant personally and got comp seats from him). the best thing about this, other than multiple generations enjoying Skynyrd, is that Alex is wearing his Dad's Skynyrd tour shirt. From 1979.
