My Jazz Fest Highlight

This performance by Steve Martin was an All-time Highlight. "Orange Blossom Special" followed by "King Tut" to close. Outstanding. Good review of his show HERE.
Martin held up an iPad and said his set was written on it, noting it was a $500 set list, saying “My fans expect nothing less.” His banter was a constant. “I try to write songs based on personal experience. This one is ‘I Think My Masseuse is Too Chatty’” he dead panned, never lacking in dad jokes for his banter. ”Saga of the Old West,” Martin continued, contains “sadness and melancholy….like the look on my agent’s face when I told him I wanted to be a banjo player.”

A Sugarcorn Sighting in SF

If you look very closely at the beginning of this video (very visible on the lower right of the screen from about 0:11 - 0:22), you can see the rare & magical Sugarcorn traipsing behind the Viking ship float, carrying a mini-keg of beer in his backpack, and flinging glitter on the masses. So magical...

RIP - RONNIE JAMES DIO

RIP - Ronnie James Dio. A legendary heavy metal voice, fronting Rainbow & Black Sabbath after Ozzy. As Dave Grohl said, Dio was "the coolest little midget in rock" and was a fan favorite in our household. He will be missed...

The last in line."

Grampa Bob

Went to a wedding on the beach down at the Jersey Shore and left Leighton with the in-laws overnight for "Baby's First Overnight." Grampa Bob joked on Friday, "Remember. I charge $10 / hour for babysitting."
When we got back from the wedding on Sunday, Granny Rose said, "Go away! We're keeping him!" And then when we were leaving last night, Grampa Bob amended his joke, "Remember - $10 / hour. That's ALL I'LL PAY YOU!" So apparently things went very well...

OTB For Grandma Rose

She asked me to place a Preakness bet for her at an OTB so met LFee for company & lunch as this was my first ever time in an OTB, and hopefully my last. All the glamour of a bus depot with even more desperation. Yet another reminder why I don't gamble.

Playin' the ponies for Grandma...
