Here's What Happened
As we head in to next weekend... here's precisely what happened to my hand. Trying to ape Gano's signature move, I made a few errors. However, as the bartendress said... "DAMN! That was awesome!" That part is true.
As I said, "Try that again..."
That part is unlikely. Lesson learned. (But it was awesome....)
Signed,
The Scalded Dog.

NEW ROCK N' BOWL IS OPEN!
Wow... The new Rock n' Bowl location in New Orleans has opened (@ Carrolton & Earhart)! VAST CONGRATULATIONS to John Blancher & his team. An incredible achievement in a troubled time and, yet again, John leads by example with his commitment to New Orleans... Once again, Rock n' Bowl inspires.
The old Rock n' Bowl is my favorite bar on earth. Literally. Numero Uno. And it is where I met my Wyfe. So while it will be sad to see it go, I trust in John and Rock n' Bowl and to make that kind of investment in the city... I am sure it will be epic. As TJ just wrote me, "cant buy or duplicate character and history unfortunately. ouch. nor am i one to judge, but i concede i'm kind of bummed. "
in large part I agree. and am sad that we won't be able to take our kids (once they are old enough to drink) to the site where their parents met. But John has earned the right to play this out any way he sees fit and history has to start somewhere.
So despite my deep personal feelings for the old location, I will be the first one in line to support John and the new Rock n' Bowl.

Colbert's Space Treadmill
Comedic hero Stephen Colbert did not, in fact, receive NASA's blessing to name their space node after him (instead they chose "Tranquility") but they did concede to name their treadmill after him, "The COLBERT - Combined Operational Load Bearing External Resistance Treadmill."
Per Tuesday's episode, "A child will look into the sky and say, "What's that Mommy?' And the mother will say, 'That's the Stephen Colbert Space Node.' And the child will say, 'The same Stephen Colbert who saved the world from the zombie dragon onslaught?' And the mother will say, 'Yes. He was the most tender lover I've ever known."

Dinner Club
Recession special dinner night. In an effort to curtail expenses, The Big L., Marvelous Matt & ourselves have started a Dinner Club where one of us will cook & host one night a month. Matt did a splendid job with his linguine in white clam sauce, champagne & a brownie / fresh fruit dessert, served outside on his terrace. Delightful, decadent yet affordable.
